Michlig, Dorene A. (1928? – 5 Feb 2021)
Dorene A. Michlig, age 92, of Colby, passed away on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at the
Colby Retirement Community under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.
Dorene was born at her grandparent’s home in the Town of Mayville, the daughter
of Albert and Dorothy (Klessig) Mandel. She graduated from Colby High School. On
September 25, 1947, Dorene was united in marriage to Jerome Michlig at St.
Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Dorene lived on the same property her entire life until moving into the Colby
Retirement Community.
Dorene enjoyed keeping a clean and organized home. She helped at the
family-owned cheese factory called Mandel’s Cheese Factory southwest of Colby
for many years. She also worked for Teledyne Post Factory in Owen. Dorene
enjoyed getting her hair done every week and spending time with her lady
friends.
Dorene is survived by her two children: Joan Lee of Oshkosh and Bob (Jamie)
Michlig of Abbotsford; two grandchildren: Carissa (Luke Hemminghaus) Elandt of
Oshkosh and Ross (Jennifer) Michlig of Medford; and one great-granddaughter:
Symarra Michlig of Medford. She is further survived by a sister, Marlys Riedel
of Neillsville; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dorene was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; a grandchild, Graham
Michlig; and a son-in- law, Donald Lee.
Due to COVID-19, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
