The Machlett Hotel was very well-known for fine food after the turn of the
century. It was located a short distance north of the depot on Front Street,
where the Armin Peterson residence is today. Mrs. Henry Machlett ran the hotel.
It was later sold to Albert Marquardt. In 1911, it burned with the other four
buildings owned by Henry Machlett, Nick Machlett, A. Olson and Fred Richter Most
of these buildings were rebuilt that same year.
