O.K. Dahlberg started the first creamery in Curtiss on the corner of Front and
Poplar Street, east of the present bank building.
In 1899, Emil Laabs started a cheese factory. It was partially destroyed by the
cyclone of 1905. That same year it was rebuilt by Fred and Emil Laabs on the
