Cook, Mrs. Leslie (Ethel) (19 May 1902 – 23 August 1980)

Mrs. Cook, 78, Route 1, Granton died at 2:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Mrs. Cook was born May 19, 1902 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to William and Rosa (Griffin) Parriott. At the age of 4, her family moved to South Dakota where she was educated. On October 10, 1922, she and Leslie D. Cook were married, in Chamberlain, S.D. Then they moved to the Town of Hewett in Clark County and operated a farm in the Columbia area southwest of Neillsville until retiring in 1970. Since then, they resided in the Town of Grant.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid and Lynn Birthday Club.

Her husband survives along with three daughters, Mrs. William (Ruth) Stephens of Smithsville, Ga., Mrs. Wilbert (Dorothy) Henchen, Neillsville, and Mrs. William (Lillian) Gallagher, Silver Springs, Md.; a son, William Cook, Granton; two sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Ruth) Jacobs and Mrs. Cecil (Leta) Thomas, both of Kimball, S.D.; three brothers, Earl P. and Virgil P., both of Kimball and Clinton of Chicago; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A sister is deceased.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church for Mrs. Leslie (Ethel) Cook. Burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff is to officiate. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today at Gesche Funeral Home and an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
