In 1907 you made us a present of the Baraboo News for one years, and you have
been sending it very promptly ever since, which means that we have enjoyed the
paper for thirteen years without a break. We always look forward to the arrival
of the News, as we once lived in Baraboo, and this is the only paper which
brings us the news from our former home. We moved to Owen, Wisconsin eight years
ago.
I wish I could send you a picture of this locality then and now. During this
time there have been many homes built here, many acres cleared of stumps, many
roads built, and many other improvements made, which add much to the value of
the place. The dairy business is rapidly increasing here and, as we have
abundance of fine pasture and our soil is adapted to hay and grain raising, this
business will continue to increase as the stumps are removed and our tilled land
increased. Our hay and oats are looking well and promise a good crop, but corn
and potatoes are a little late, owing to much rain at planting time.
