WAUSAU -- Three suspects in a Clark Clark County burglary attempt were
apprehended Thursday evening by Marathon County deputies.
Deputy Charles Lucas stationed himself at Highways 29 and 13 in Abbotsford after
he was notified of a break-in at the IGA grocery store in Owen. Shortly after
10:35 p.m., Lucas said he saw a car matching the description and licence number
of a car seen leaving the store.
Lucas and William Hussong, a Colby/Abbotsford police officer, followed the car
to a farm east of Abbotsford on Highway 29. Three men in the car were confronted
and although the auto's owner refused to consent to a search, the car was
searched after Clark County District Attorney Darwin Zwieg was contacted.
Found in the car were marijuana and a scale for measuring the substance, tool
and a portable police scanner programmed to receive Clark County calls.
Taken to the Clark County Jail in Neillsville were a 37-year-old Fox Lake
resident, a Madison man, 34, and a 43-year-old La Crosse man.
