Extrom, Dale F. (31January 1924 – 12 October 1997) With Flag
Dale Extrom, 73, of Merrillan, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997 at his home from a
lengthy illness.
Dale was born on Jan. 31, 1924 in Brookfield, Ill., the son of Harry A. and
Frances G. (Fincham) Extrom. He enlisted into the United States Army and served
in WWII in a heavy artillery battalion. After returning from the service Dale
managed a number of bowling establishments in the western suburbs of Chicago and
was a member of the American Bowling Congress. He was formerly married to Lilian
Blazejovsky. Shortly after retiring in 1986, he moved to the Hatfield/Merrillan
area from Downers Grove, Ill.
He is survived by his brother, Robert L. (Marijean) Extrom of Arlington Heights,
Ill.; three sisters, Marjorie E. Bergstrom of Sewickley, Pa., Dorothy M.
Bergstrom of Phoenix, Ariz., and Betty J. (Seaholm) Thompson of Morris, Ill.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997 at the Gesche
Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Clarendon, Ill.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society,
North Central District Office, 903 S. 17th Ave., Wausau, WI 54401 or the
American Heart Association.
