East St. Louis, Ill. – A collie dog shipped from this city to Owen, Wisconsin
has found its way back, a distance of 500 miles.
The pup was but six month old when sent by the owner, George Schaub, to John
Welty of Wisconsin. It appeared to be content in its new home for a period of
two months, and then disappeared. Five weeks later it scratched at the front
door of the Schaub dwelling here, foot sore, emaciated, and with toenails work
to the quick.
The Schaub family has agreed never to part with the wanderer again.
