Reckner, Betty Lou (30 January 1928 – 14 March 2021)
Betty Lou Reckner, age 93, of Marshfield entered eternal life into the waiting
arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 14, 2021. She lived a long, full,
and eventful life and is now with family, friends and loved ones who passed
before her.
Betty was born on January 30, 1928 in Milwaukee, to Lorraine (Miller) Niemann.
She married Gene Reckner on June 14, 1947. The couple owned and operated a dairy
farm at Route 1, Spencer for six years and then moved to Marshfield. They
enjoyed 34 years of marriage together until Gene’s death on April 10, 1982.
Betty worked various places during her life besides being a housewife/mother.
She worked at the Marshfield Canning Company, Figi’s, Weyerhaeuser, various
cleaning jobs, and a crossing guard.
She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She could grow things others could not.
She had a green thumb. Betty also liked to travel, taking several trips with her
daughter Ione. They have been to Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and most of
the U.S.
She is survived by her children, Ione Reckner, Dennis (Dawn) Reckner, David
(Alice) Reckner, Sharon (Randy) Bryant, Karen (Larry) Doering, Larry (Theresa)
Reckner, and Monica (Jim) Poppy, daughter-in-law, Kathy Reckner, a sister Lois
(Ed) Mauer, 17 grandchildren, one step grandchild, 13 great-grandchildren, and
one step great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, a son Edwin Reckner, and a
brother Henry Niemann.
Funeral services will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East
Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. with
Reverend Andrew Belt officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Immanuel
Lutheran Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark and Jeffrey
Bryant, Shawn, Hunter, Justin, Jonathon, Jason and Jacob Reckner, and Jesse
Poppy. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour before the time of
service at the funeral home. Masks and social distancing will be required for
the visitation and service.
