Seefeld, Charles (Five Year Investor Award - 1985)
Granton dairyman, Charles Seefeldt, will be presented the ‘Five Year Investor
Award’ on June 18 at the 27th Annual Meeting of National All-Jersey, Inc., the
milk marketing arm of the American Jersey Cattle Club.
The investor awards are given to those dairymen who have invested money in
National All-Jersey’s Equity Program for five continuous years; and are in
recognition and appreciation of longtime support, and promotion of equitable
milk pricing. The equity program was initiated in June 1978.
Developing and promoting a more equitable milk pricing system has been the
objective of the Equity Program. They developed a pricing system that includes
payment for protein, in addition to butterfat. Today, most cooperatives and
cheese plants price all, or part, of their milk using some form of ‘Equity
Pricing,’ according to the American Jersey Cattle Club. As a result, Jersey
dairymen received an additional $16 million in 1984.
