North, Wilda D. (? – 24 Sep 1941)
Mrs. Howard Carroll returned Sunday evening from Rockford, Ill., where, in
company with her brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs. C. G. Bozman, of
Newark, attended the funeral of her sister, Mrs. Wilda D. North, wife of
Attorney Harry North of Rockford, who was instantly killed Wednesday afternoon,
September 24, 1941, when the car she was driving left the road, striking a tree
and throwing Mrs. North to the ground. Death resulted from a skull fracture.
Mrs. North was on her way to join her husband at their summer home at Lake
Geneva, Wisconsin, from where they had been commuting during the summer months.
Mrs. North was born Wilda D. Dearth, daughter of the late Lewis and Clara De Voe
Dearth of the Hackney, Ohio neighborhood. She was united in marriage with Harry
North in Chicago in 1927. Mrs. North was a member of the Eastern Star and was an
active member of the Second Congregational Church at Rockford.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Val Combs, Mt.
Vernon; Mrs. F. H. Carroll, McConnelsville; Mrs. G. W. McFerren, Beverly route,
and Mrs. C. G. Bozman, Newark; a brother, Joseph a Dearth, Owen, Wisconsin; and
three step-children. Two sisters are deceased, Mrs. J.W. Ludman, Beverly route
and Mrs. Amanda Watson of California, who met a tragic death a few years ago.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Burpee-Wood Funeral
Home at Rockford, and interment was made at Cherry valley. The many floral
offerings testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held.
