Nordlof, Donald L. (17 Oct 1925 – 9 Jan 1976)

Funeral services for Donald Laurence Nordlof, 50, rural Owen, were conducted at 10:30 Monday forenoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Withee. The Rev. David Wegner, pastor of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood, of which Mr. Nordlof was a member, officiated. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery, with Ralph Peterson, Lorraine Fritz, Joseph Karaba, Art Klabon, Peter Devine and Charles Pribbernow serving as pallbearers.

Donald Laurence Nordlof passed away at 9:29 Friday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, of an apparent heart attack. He had been hospitalized for treatment since the 24th of December.

The deceased was born October 17, 1925 in Baudette, Minnesota, and was married to Muriel Hanson on April 22, 1950, at Baudette. He graduated in 1943 from Baudette High School and came to the Town of Longwood in 1959, where he has since operated a farm. In addition to being a successful farmer and active church worker, he was an avid sportsman and sports fan. Three years ago he and his wife were the recipients of the “Fan of the Year” trophy, presented annually by the Owen Kiwanis Club at the annual Owen-Withee sports banquet.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Robert, at home, and Michael, Big Bay, Michigan; two daughters, Mrs. William (Susan) Devine, Greenwood and Jayne Nordlof, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Emmie Samuelson of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Visa Bergstrom, Minneapolis, Minn. , Mrs. Lilla Guide, St. Cloud, Minn., and Mrs. Charles (Doris) Banks, Kirkland, Ill.; and four brothers, Milton and Lander Nordlof, Rockford, Ill., True of Tucson, Arizona and Alvin, Baudette, Minn.
