Tomkowiak, Harriet (1 Jul 1906 – 8 Jan 1976)
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Chapel
in Thorp for Mrs. Frank Tomkowiak, 69, of Thorp, who died unexpectedly at her
home in Thorp on Thursday morning. Burial followed in the parish cemetery (New
St. Hedwig’s).
Mrs. Tomkowiak, the former Harriet Wojt, was born July 1, 1906 in the state of
Arkansas and moved to Thorp at the age of four.
On September 20, 1927 she was married here to Frank Tomkowiak and continued to
live here until death.
Survivors, besides her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Gertrude)
Suda, Route 3, Greenwood, and Mrs. Milton (Susan) Ryba, Route 1, Curtiss; five
brothers, Victor and Tony Wojt, both of Thorp, Joseph of Eau Claire, Adam of
Chicago, and Ed of the State of Washington; four sisters, Mrs. Josephine Kuzenka
of Owen, Mrs. Edna Cerebe of North Lake, Ill., Mrs. Wanda Cukla of Melrose Park,
Ill., and Mrs. Rose Filipek, Chicago, Ill., and 10 grandchildren.
