DeLong, Earl H. (31 Aug 1898 – 7 Jan 1976)
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen
for Earl Herbert Delong, 77, Withee. He died of an apparent heart attack at 5:30
a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, where
he had been admitted on Tuesday.
The Rev. Lloyd Yaggie, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee, conducted
the services. Interment was made in the Withee Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. DeLong was born August 31, 1898 at Humbird, and graduated from the Humbird
High School in 1919. He worked at the Hamilton Manufacturing Co. at Two Rivers
from 1923 to 1948. He then farmed near Humbird until moving to the Owen-Withee
area in 1961.
Mr. DeLong married the former Velva O’Leary on July 23, 1922, at Humbird. She
survives.
Other survivors include five sons, Ronald, Owen, Gerald, Withee, Russell, Two
Rivers, and Mark and Owen, both of Cleveland, Wis.; a daughter, Miss Coralee
DeLong, Two Rivers; a sister, Mrs. John (Eleanor) Burchell, Humbird; 15
grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
Casket bearers were Ronald, Russell, Mark, Owen, and Lawrence DeLong, and Taino
Ranta.
