Gierl, Dawn (Marriage – 4 September 1976)
Miss Dawn Gierl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gierl of Bessemer, Mi., and
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Mills of Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Fran
Seidel of Coby, was married to James Martell on Saturday, September 4, in
Ramsey, MI. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Martell, Bessemer.
The Rev. Neil Smith officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony performed at Christ the
King Catholic Church.
A bouquet of peach and white roses, baby’s breath and Ivy complimented the
bride’s ivory silk organza princess silhouette gown designed with a Victorian
neckline, long, tapered sleeves, fitted waistline and chapel length train. Her
fingertip mantilla was held by a Juliet headpiece. She was presented in marriage
by her father.
Honor attendant Holli Silva and bridesmaids Pamela Moore, Linda Butler, Geri
Komidar and Susan Martell wore peach-colored Marcaine gowns fashioned with
mandarin necklines, long sleeves, fitted waistlines and A-line skirts. They
carried baskets filled with daisies and pompons and wore matching yellow, lime
green and peach flowers in their hair.
Attending the groom were Dennis Martell as bestman and Randy Gierl, Joel Massie,
Tim Marczak and James Rooni as groomsmen. Dan Servia and Chris Gierl seated
guests.
Michael Martell was the ringbearer and Cindy Gierl and Jolene Mills acted as
flower girls.
Arlyn Mills, uncle of the bride, was the soloist.
A reception was held at the Bessemer VFW Club, and a rehearsal dinner was held
at the Bessemer Legion Club.
The new Mrs. Martell graduated from St. Scholastica, Duluth, Mn., with a degree
in medical record administration and is employed as assistant director of
medical records at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital, Minneapolis, Mn. Her husband
graduated from Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Mi., in business
administration. He is employed in Minneapolis as an industrial engineer for a
parcel delivery service. They will live at 3351 Owasso St. in St. Paul, Mn.
