Withee resident, Mrs. Martin Keskimaki, has been named the Wisconsin winner of
the Amoco Oil Company See ‘N Save Contest for her nomination of Wildwood.
In describing her favorite vacation spot, Keskimaki said, “Wildwood is a unique
combination of Nature and man’s planning. Roam wooded hillsides feeding fawns,
cuddling coons, petting porcupines. In ponds watch frolicking otters, snapping
turtles, jumping trout, diving ducks and geese. Take a swamp-walk. It offers
solitude, smells, sounds and specimens of Wisconsin unspoiled north woods.”
Amoco sponsored the national contest to encourage Americans to conserve gasoline
by vacationing in their home state. Individuals were to submit a description of
a favorite in-state vacation spot and an explanation of why it is one of the
best in-state places to vacation.
Contest winner will receive deluxe auto emergency kits which include: a large
size revolving light, first aid kit, flat in inflator, fire extinguisher, set of
battery cables, flashlight with a cone, gas siphon, distress flag, road atlas,
and emergency booklet, all in a rugged case.
