Gosse, Mary (9 Mar 1885 – 2 Jan 1976)

The Rev. David E. Wenger, pastor of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood, officiated at the final rites conducted at 2:30 o’clock Monday afternoon from the Longwood parish for Mrs. Mary Gosse.

Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Serving as casket bearers were John Kolpanen, Stanley Wells, Edward Gosse, David Gosse, Jerome Kolpanen and Ronald Gosse.

Mrs. Gosse, 90, of route 1, Owen, passed away at 4:30 Friday morning at the Neillsville Memorial Home. The former Mary Henchel was born March 9, 1885 at Mosel, and attended the Kiel area schools. After her marriage to Ernest Gosse on December 25, 1905, at Kiel, the couple farmed in Colby Township until 1917, when they then moved to Christie. They also farmed in the Town of Warner and had operated a farm in the Town of Longwood since 1932.

Mr. Gosse died in December 1951.

Survivors include five sons, Gerhardt, Spencer, Harold Denver, Colorado, Sherman and Edward, both of Owen, and Lavern, Appleton; three daughters, Mrs. Albert (Adeline) Niemi and Mrs. Stanley (Margaret) Wells, both of Lake Forest, Ill., and Mrs. William (Gertrude) Kolpanen, Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs. Lois Boelt, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Alma Werneck, Cleveland, Ohio; 32 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
