Sanger, Amanda (29 February 1888 – 20 October 1976)
Mrs. William (Amanda) Sanger, 88, Chili, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 20, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She had been hospitalized there
since Saturday. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 23, at Grace
Lutheran Church, Nasonville, with the Rev. Stephen Ellerbusch, pastor,
officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The former Amanda Viergutz was born February 29, 1888, in the Township of Lynn
and received her education in Clark County Schools. She was married to William
Sanger on May 1, 1907, in the Town of Grant, and the couple farmed in the Town
of Fremont until 1934. Mr. Sanger died on April 15, 1934.
Mrs. Sanger, who had resided in Chili the past 36 years, was a member of Grace
Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens
of Chili.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Leona) Pushek and Mrs. Herbert (Sella)
Puschek, both of Chili; a son, Wilbur Sanger, Rt.1 Chili; two sisters, Mrs.
Clark (Elda) Brooks and Mrs. Kenneth (Rose) Langrehr, both of Granton; and nine
grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Two hymns, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art,” were sung at the
funeral by Norman and Edwin Meissner, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Earl
Meissner.
Pallbearers were her six grandsons, William Puscheck, Lt. Col. Herbert C.
Pusheck, and Roger, Wayne, Stanley and William Sanger.
