Cieslek, Michael M. (9 Mar 1932 – 7 Mar 2021)

Michael Marvin Cieslek passed away on March 7, 2021, just 2 days before his 89th birthday. Mike was born on March 9, 1932, in Chicago, IL to Michael G. & Theresa (nee Pietrzak) Cieslek. He graduated from St. Odilo's grade school in 1946 & St. Mel's High School in 1950. He enlisted in the Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1952. After serving, he worked at USPS as a mechanic, letter carrier and then supervisor at the Hinsdale Post Office for 35 yrs.

Mike enjoyed keeping busy and had side jobs at Soukups Hardware in Hinsdale and later at Ace Hardware in Darien. As a teen he worked at his Uncle Henry & Aunt Helen's tavern/restaurant, The Wink Inn in Thorp, WI. He was an expert builder, plumber, electrician, a great teacher to those around him & beloved by all who met him.

He was a loyal parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Darien and a devoted husband to Helen (nee Lomec) for 66 wonderful years.

He is survived by his children David (Francine) Cieslek, Michaelynn (David) Benedict & three grandchildren: Davy, Alanna (John) Kveton, & Dr. Xaverie (Tom) Randazzo. Nothing brought Mike more joy than world travels with his wife, children & grandchildren. He was the loving brother of his sisters Joyce Schmidt of AZ and the late Shirley (Leroy) Michel.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Disabled American Veterans or a charity of your choice. Services were held at Our Lady of Peace Church on Saturday, March 27, 2021.
