Memorial Hospital/Home (Restrictions - 1976)
Memorial Hospital and Memorial Home has restricted visitors because of the
prevalence of respiratory illness in the area.
In explaining the reason for the action, the hospital staff issued the following
statement:
“Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home would like to remind you, the public, that
colds and flu are communicable diseases and can be easily transmitted from the
person having the disease to another person. When people are ill, have just had
surgery, or are elderly their resistance is low, and they are more susceptible
to these common diseases.
“Therefore, we are asking you to please not visit either the hospital or the
nursing home if you have any of the following symptoms: nasal congestion, runny
nose, cough, muscle aching, fever, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
“Remember while you may not have been particularly ill, but people may find a
cold or the flu a serious complication. We ask you for your cooperation in
helping us to keep our people free of these complications.”
