Kowalk, George (12 June 1896 - 20 April 1983)

COLBY - George Kowalk, 86, of Colby died Wednesday evening at Continental Nursing Home, Abbotsford.

Services will be Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church with burial in Colby Memorial Cemetery, The Rev. Robin O. Fink will officiate. Visitation will be at Rux Funeral Home Colby.

Mr. Kowalk , son of Mr. and Mrs. William (Ernestine Sill) Kowalk was born June 12, 1896 in Colby and received his education in that area.

He and Gertrude Quist were married November 4, 1927 at Zion Lutheran Church. He farmed in the Town of Hull for 20 years, retiring in 1952 when he moved to Colby. He also had worked for Rollohome Corp., Marshfield.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Betty) Beguhn of Elk Mound; 2 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. William (Lena) Sachse, Colby.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, three brothers and a sister.
