Roehl, William Carl (? – 2 January 1977)

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, January 5 for William Carl Roehl, 87, 1208 Bruley Street, Neillsville, who died January 2 after a lingering illness.

Rev. Noman W. Lindloff was to officiate at he service in the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial was to be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Born and educated in Jefferson County, Roehl came to Clark County in 1905 with his parents, Carl and Justina Roehl, where he farmed with them until his marriage to Hattie Zickert in 1916.

He and his wife, who survives farmed in the Town of Pine Valley until 1924 and then in the Town of York until his retirement in 1962 when the couple moved to Neillsville. While residents of York, Roehl served as a town board member for 12 years.

Besides his wife, Roehl is survived by two children, Clifford Roehl and Mrs. Harold (Florence) Embke, both of Neillsville, and a brother, Frank Roehl of Hancock, and eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
