The Neillsville ag mechanics team placed first in the state judging contest in Madison Friday and also had a first place individual winner.

Craig Kurasz, David Grottke and Kenneth Schmitt were on the winning team. Schmitt placed first as an individual. The team will represent Wisconsin in the national ag mechanics contest at the National Future Farmers of America convention in Kansas City in October.

Also participating Friday, with results not yet available, were Dean Wetzel, Jim Kingsbury and Jeff Friemoth, dairy cattle; Randy Sebesta, dairy showmanship; Ray Pagenkopf, Walter Piskow and Todd Nemitz, dairy products; Craig Boyer, Tim Quast and Ralph Sadowski, farm crops; Terry Byrne, Scott Shirley and Angie Suda, farm management; and Pat Schmidt, Dennis Schmidt and Kendall Durham, nursery.
