Pfc Kirby Klabon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Klabon, rural Withee, was the
recipient of a letter of commendation, not only from his Commanding Officer, by
the Headquarters Commander, as well, for his performance held December 1, 1975
near his base at Fort Carson, Colorado.
His Commanding Officer, Col. Robert W. Pointer, Jr., wrote:
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you personally for the
outstanding roadside spot check inspection rating received for the vehicle you
were operating on December 1, 1975. This achievement indicates a personal
concern and conscientious performance on duty of your part. These are qualities
highly desired in personnel of this command.
Your efforts are sincerely appreciated and the results reflect highly upon you
self, you unit, and the United States Army.
A copy of this correspondence will be place in your personal file.”
And in the letter received from Wm. Badger, Headquarters Commander of 53D
Engineer Battalion (Const.), Fort Carson, Colorado, he wrote:
“I would like to add my thanks to those of Colonel Pointer for your achievement
in obtaining an outstanding rating during the roadside spot inspection.
Outstanding ratings are indicative of a lot of conscientious work and personal
pride. I am proud to have you as a fellow “Castleman.” Again, thanks for a job
well done.”
