Dunow, Cindy Sue (20 Sep 1958 – 21 Feb 1976)

Cindy Sue Dunow, 17, 7851 19th Avenue, died Saturday night.

Born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, September 20, 1958, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard K. Dunow. She received her education at Sunnyside Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High School, and was a senior at Walter Ruether Alternative High School at the time of her death. She was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her parents and three sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Dawn) Skau, Deborah A. Dunow, and Shari L. Dunow, all of Kenosha. She is also survived by her great-grandmother, Mrs. Carl Sheets of Curtiss, Wisconsin, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dunow of Owen, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alden Anderson.

No official ruling has yet been made by Kenosha County Coroner Thomas Doriff in the late Saturday night death of Cindy Sue Dunow, 17, 7851 19th Avenue, Kenosha.

She was struck and killed by a north bound Chicago and Northwester passenger train about 11:15 p.m.

The train engineer, Robert W. Winn, Wheaton, Ill., told police he saw an object lying parallel to the train tracks as he round a curve near 80th Street. At first he couldn’t determine what the object was, he told police, he thought it was a pile of rags. He put on the emergency brakes, but the train, traveling at 58 m.p.h. could not stop in time.

The girl’s identity was not determined until Sunday afternoon, when her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard R. Dunow, made the identification at a funeral parlor.
