New Year Baby (Riphenburg - 1977)
A good many New Year resolutions were broken before the New Year baby came at
Memorial Hospital.
He finally arrived at 2:57 a.m. last Friday, (Jan. 12)-just slightly less than
two weeks after the event itself.
“He” is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Riphenburg of Fairchild and weighed in at
a whopping 10 pounds and three ounces. He was slightly more than 22 inches long.
The New Year baby is the fourth child of the Riphenburg’s. Brother and sisters
are Karl, 15; Lisa, 13; and Kris, 11. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Roy Knuth of
Fairchild and Mrs. Margaret Riphenburg of Osseo, Mrs. Olga Mork is a
great-grandmother.
The baby had not been named when the reporter visited the hospital. “I’m going
to leave that up to his father,” Mrs. Riphenburg said, “because he’s a boy.”
The Riphenburg baby is the second successive Memorial Hospital New Year baby to
hail from the Fairchild area. The New Year baby of 1976 was Erick Wedwark, son
of Dolores Wedwark of Rt. 1 Fairchild.
Erick was a little more considerate than the New Year baby of 1977. He was only
four hours and seven minutes late.
