Ripplinger, Orley K. (6 January 1907 - 3 March 1977) With Flag
A Tioga native and WWII veteran Orley K. Ripplinger, 70, died Thursday March 3,
at his home on Hewett St. in Neillsville. Services were held on Monday at 1:3o
p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W.
Lindloff officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites, was in the
Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Born January 6, 1907, at Tioga to John N. and Ina May Palms Ripplinger, he
attended Clark county schools, graduating from Neillsville High School in 1925,
then attended t he Milwaukee School of Business and the Chicago School of
engineering. Mr. Ripplinger worked in banking and as an insurance executive
until his retirement in 1960.
In 1924, he enlisted in Service Company, 128th Infantry Regiment, of the
Wisconsin National Guard. He was called to active duty in 1940 and served in the
Pacific Islands and Japan, then returned to reserve status after the war.
His marriage to the former Agnes G. Dux took place May 24, 1926, in Milwaukee.
Mrs. Ripplinger preceded her husband in death in 1971.
Mr. Ripplinger was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, of the
Retired Officers Assn., and of Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post No. 73.
Surviving are several brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles, and nieces
and nephews.

Funeral services were held March 7 from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church
for Orley K. Ripplinger, 70, of Neillsville, who died at his home March 3. The
Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated, and burial followed in the Neillsville City
Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were John Mattson, Calvin Mills, Heron “Pink” Van Gorden, Jeff Dux,
Duane Anding and Al Dimeo.
“The Lord Is My Shepherd: and “Abide With Me” wee sung by the choir of St.
John’s Lutheran School. Kathleen Beckmann was the accompanist.
Those from out of town attending the services were Mr./Mrs. Don Brandt,

Kenneth Dux, Stoughton.
