Cieslik, Frank (11 Jul 1913 – 8 Apr 1976)
Business people and employees of Foremost Foods of Owen and a wide circle of
Frank Cieslik’s friends were stunned late Thursday night and Friday morning when
they learned of his sudden death.
He had been at his office in the plant as usual Thursday, and in apparent good
health and spirit. However, while enroute to his home in Chippewa Falls that
evening he suffered an apparent heart attack and died. He was found in his car
parked on the shoulder of the roadway near Bateman by a motorist.
Final rites were conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, April 12, 1976, for Frank
Cieslik, 62, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, with Father Richard Fliss
officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
Pallbearers were Paul Bladl, Sr., Roger Bowe, Ronald Gehrke, Dr. Kenneth
Lebenseder, Bert Cattanach and James Sowieja.
Mr. Cieslik was born July 11, 1913 in Gilman and attended the Withee area
school. He also attended the former Stevens Point State College, where he
majored in elementary education. He had worked for the Carnation Condensing Milk
Co. at Owen before beginning his employment at Foremost Foods, where he has been
employed the past 30 years. Of late years he had served as plant manager of the
firm’s Owen office.
He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church of Chippewa Falls, Knights of
Columbus of Owen, and the Owen Holy Name Society. He also was formerly a member
of the Owen Kiwanis Club and past president, and a member of the Owen-Withee
Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Cieslik married the former Helen Kovaloski on August 12, 1938. She died June
3, 1964. He later married Agnes Gumm on September 24, 1968, at Owen. They then
made their home in Chippewa Falls the past seven years. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Richard, Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Herman
(Patricia) Rust, Chippewa Falls; his mother, Mrs. Anna Cieslik, Thorp; a
step-son, Robert Gumm, Roseville, Minn.; two grandchildren and five
step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Cieslik.
