Funeral services for Mrs. George Schanberger, a pioneer resident of the city of
Owen, will be held at three o’clock this afternoon, Wednesday, April 14, 1976,
at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Owen. Officiating will be the rev. Roger
Tellock, pastor of St. Paul’s American Lutheran Church, Curtiss. Interment will
follow at Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
The deceased, nee Bessie Bangle, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Lawrence (Doris) Clark in Owen about 6:30 Sunday evening. She was 89 years of
age.
The former Bessie Bangle was born February 1, 1887 at Pedrick Mills, Eau Claire
County. The family later moved to Rib Lake, where she received her schooling,
and on February 11, 1906, married George Schanberger. The couple moved to Owen
three years later, when her husband was employed in the lumbering industry. He
preceded her in death, while she continued to make her home enjoying the
companionship of her two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Doris) Clark, Owen, and Mrs.
Jens (Cordilia) Miller, and their families.
She, too, was an active member of the Royal Neighbors of America and the Rebecca
Lodge.
In addition to her two daughters, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ella
Belmont, Waukesha, and three grandchildren.
