Jensen, Orpha Edith (3 April 1901 – 29 March 1977)

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Congregational Church in City Point for Mrs. Herbert (Orpha) Jensen, 75, of City Point, who died Tuesday, March 29, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield where she had been admitted the previous day. The Rev. Willard Sherman of Ellsworth officiated, and burial followed in the City Point Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield.

Mrs. Jensen, the former Orpha Edith Sullivan, was born April 3, 1901, in City Point and attended schools in that area. She lived at Wisconsin Rapids and City Point before her July 12, 1921, marriage to Herbert Peter Jensen. The Jensen’s, who observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1971, were married at Winona, Mn.

The lived in the City Point area for many years and operated the Herbert Jensen cranberry marsh. Mr. Jensen preceded his wife in death October 10, 1975.

Mrs. Jensen was member of the Congregational Church at City Point and was a 50-year member of the Royal Neighbors of America at Pittsville. She also served on the City Point school board for a number of years. Her death followed a lingering illness.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Milton (Norma) Behling and Mrs. LaVerne (Marjorie) Jacobson, both of City Point, Mrs. Martin (Billie) Reshel, Slinger, and Mrs. Lyman (Doris) Shoemaker and Mrs. Ronald (Joy) Zieher, both of Pittsville; a son Orman Jensen, City Point; and 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
