Wendel, Elizabeth (8 March 1885 – 9 May 1977)
A Neillsville native, Mrs. Elizabeth Wendel, 92, died May 9 at the Granville
Terrace Nursing Home in Chicago, following a lingering illness. Funeral services
were held from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Niles, Il., on May 12.
Mrs. Wendel, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Blum, was born in
Neillsville on March 8, 1885. She was married to Jacob Wendel, he preceded her
in death several years ago. Mrs. Wendel lived in the Town of Levis before moving
to Chicago.
Among survivors are three sons, Valentine, Carl and Herbert, two daughters, Mrs.
Lillian Riske and Mrs. Gretchen Schultz, one sister Miss Johanna Blum of
Memorial Home in Neillsville and 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and
two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wendel was an aunt of Marie Keller of
Neillsville.
