Monday night members of the Owen Kiwanis Club were assisted in their annual tree
planting project by Kiwanians of the Neillsville Club, who came her to take part
in the fun night program, as well as enjoy an ‘intra-club’ meeting.
Members of the two clubs planted 100 trees about the city. Only maples and
cherry trees were planted this year. The fire department lent them their water
truck to assist them in their project. In some instances the truck was too far
away from the tree, so Hank Mauel does the only thing possible, carried the
water. The club presidents, Jack Jalling of Owen and David Bertz of Neillsville,
agreed that the sponsorship is certainly worthwhile, and provided a lot of fun,
as they met at the banquet table afterwards at Meadowview Country Club.
