Mr. and Mrs. Ernest C. Gay, Owen, announce the engagement of their daughter, Rose, to Jeff Schneider, son of Mrs. Helen Schneider, Oshkosh.

Miss Gay is Director of the CESA 13 Regional Media Center in Waupun. Her fiancé is currently attending UW-Oshkosh, majoring in Business Administration.

A January wedding is being planned.

Gay, Rosalyn (8 Jan 1977)

Wedding vows were exchanged on Saturday, January 8, 1977 by Rosalyn Gay, daughter of Attorney and Mrs. Ernest Gay, Owen, and Jeffrey Schneider, son of Mrs. Helen Schneider and the late Philip Schneider, Oshkosh, at 2:30 p.m. at the Newman Center, UW-Oshkosh.

The bride and groom were each escorted to the altar by their parents, where a double ring ceremony was performed by Father Robert Thompson and Rev. Jame Vahey.

Before and during the ceremony musical selections were sung by Maureen Draxler and Jerry Backus, accompanied by organist, Larry Klausch.

The bride wore her mother’s wedding gown of nylon net and Chantilly lace over white satin with cape effect. Peter Pan collar, long sleeves, full net skirt accented with lace extending into a long train. The lac edged long veil fell from a cape of lace and seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of orchids and American Beauty roses.

Miss Shirley Gay of Milwaukee was maid of honor. Mrs. Richard Bergstrom of Neenah, Wis., Miss Pat Leddy, Montello, Wisconsin and Miss Kathy Kurke of Falls Church, Va. were bridesmaids. They wore wine colored floor length gowns with jackets and maribu fur around the light pink lined hoods and ends of the sleeves. They each carried a sing American Beauty rose with light pink ribbons.

Philip W. Schneider, brother of the groom, was best man, and Bill Draxler, Oshkosh, Paul Backus, Oshkosh, and Rich Shugars Shadron, Nebraska, were groomsmen. David Gay, Steven Gay and Robert Gay, Owen, were ushers. The men were attired in charcoal gray tuxedos.

Following the wedding a buffet reception was held at the Westhaven Golf Club in Oshkosh. Mrs. David Gay was in charge of the guest book and Laura Schneider and Mary Jude Gay attended the punch bowl.

The bride graduated from Owen-Withee High School, attended Ripon College and UW-Oshkosh, and is librarian at the Manawa High School. The groom graduated from Oshkosh West High School, and is currently a student at UW-Oshkosh, majoring in Business Administration.

After a short wedding trip, they will reside in Manawa, Wisconsin.

An open house was held for Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Schneider on Saturday evening, January 15, 1977 at the home of her parents, Attorney and Mrs. Ernest Gay. Rosie and Jeff were married in Oshkosh on January 8, 1977.

Out of town guests included Mrs. Helen Schneider, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schneider, Laurie and Scott, of Oshkosh, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Gay of Marshfield, Shirley Gay of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Couillard, Lon and Cal of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ruemke of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Draxler of Oshkosh, and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Mertens of Medford.
