Lawrence Family (Reunion - 1977)
A reunion at the York Townhall on Sunday, June 19, honored Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Baker of Gig Harbor, WA., and Ida Mae Babbitt of Tacoma, Wa., who are spending
several days in this area. The ladies are daughters of the late George Lawrence,
brother of Melvin and Burton Lawrence and Lillie Lawrence VandeBerg, all now
deceased and formerly of this area. George Lawrence was also a half-brother to
Orin Lawrence, Will, Roy, Earl, Horace, Ethel, Floy Lawrence Huntly and Lois,
all deceased as well.
The ladies from Washington came to meet cousins, children of the above
mentioned, whom they had never met. Mr. and Mrs. Baker visited his daughter at
Bruce for a week before coming here.
Others who traveled from a distance for the reunion were Mr. and Mrs. Dale
Guthrie of Springfield, Or., Alice Piper of Portland, Or., Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Karlan of Monticello and Mr. and Mrs. Warrimer of Mauston. Cousins also came
from Marshfield, Owen, Granton, Spencer, Wisconsin Rapids, Chippewa Falls,
Pittsville, Loyal, Neillsville and the York Center area.
A potluck dinner was held and, needless-to-say, everyone enjoyed the
get-together and a perfect day for much picture taking.
