Waniger, Elda L. (15 October 1917 - 1 May 1983)
EDGAR - Mrs. Adrien (Elda L.) Waniger, 65, Route 1, Edgar, died Sunday at St.
Joseph's Hospital. She had been a patient there since April 4.
Services will be Wednesday at the Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home, Stratford. The
Rev. Kenneth Dix, of the United Church of Christ of Colby will officiate.
Organist will be Mrs. Edward A. Riddick, and the soloist will be Milton Kaufman.
Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kerry and Scott Hoffman and Robert Riehle, and
nephews Mark, Michael and Barry Behinger.
Visitation will be at the Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home.
The former Elda L. Behringer was born October 15, 1917 in Longwood, Clark
County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo (Edna Koepsel) Behringer. She received
her education in Longwood grade school and Loyal High School.
She was married to Abe Waniger June 4, 1938 in Manitowoc. They resided there
until 1955 and then moved to Colby. They owned and operated the former Leffel
Tavern in the Town of Frankfort for a time, and then operated the Fenwood Bar &
Bowling Alley until 1972 when they retired. They moved to the Town of Wien,
residing there since.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Colby.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Marlene) Hoffman and Mrs.
Gary (Debbie) Framke, both of Edgar, and Mrs. Leonard (Karen) Riehle of Colby,
11 grandchildren; three brothers, Merlin "Demps: Behringer of Colby, Robert
Behringer of Mazomanie and Harvey "Herb" Behringer of Spencer; and three
sisters, Mrs. Rupert (Edna) Smith of Canon City, Colorado, Mrs. Lester
(Genevieve) Awe of Manitowoc and Mrs. Kenneth (Milda) Talcott of Mosinee.
She was predeceased by her parents, one brother and one grandson.
