Erickson, Wilma June (26 December 1930 – 28 April 2021)

Wilma J Erickson, Neillsville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the House of the Dove, Marshfield.

Wilma was born December 26, 1930 at Tioga, to Nelson and Alta (Flick) Palms. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1948. Earl and Wilma celebrated 68 years of marriage together.

Wilma was a hardworking farm wife and after her children entered school she worked in the kitchen at Memorial Hospital, Nelson Filter and later at Figi’s. Whenever visitors came to her home she would offer a cup of coffee and invite you to stay for a bite to eat. She could make a meal almost out of thin air. Relatives would stay for vacation in the summer, and everyone had a place to sleep and plenty of food. All of the farm animals had names and most became pets. She would worry about everyone else’s problems before her own and she would share what she had with anyone who needed something. Earl and Wilma met at a dance at Stables’ and enjoyed dancing to polkas and waltzes. They remembered fondly the fun times traveling with family and friends to various destinations. She enjoyed writing poetry, watching the deer and birds and finding new recipes.

Wilma is survived by her sons Eugene (Beatrice), Ernest (Peggy), Evan (Susan) and Erwin (Karen) Erickson, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Doris Braatz and Iva Palms.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl (2017), her siblings Dorothy Bayuk, Francis O’Leary, Harley, Roy, Robert and Wilfred Palms, daughters in law Bonnie Erickson and Luann Erickson.

Thank you to the Sunset Gardens staff who provided wonderful care for Wilma and to the House of the Dove for their compassionate care in her final days. Your kindness will always be remembered.

Private services will be held, and burial will be at the Town of Grant cemetery.

We will celebrate Mom and Dad’s life together when we can safely gather.
