Barrett, Vivian (19 Nov 1917 – 25 May 1976)

At two o’clock Sunday, May 30, 1976, funeral services for Mrs. James (Vivian) Barrett were held at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Owen. Officiating was Rev. Peter Scott of the Unitarian Ministry in Wausau. Cremation followed.

Mrs. Barrett had been in failing health the past several months and early Tuesday forenoon, May 25, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in the city ambulance, where she passed away at 12:35 p.m.

The former Vivian Klug was born November 19, 1917 at Bradley, Wisconsin, and was married to James Barrett on July 21, 1937 at Pine City, Minnesota. She graduated from Owen High School in 1935 and attended Stevens Point University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.

She was past president of the Owen Parent-Teacher Association and past president of the Seventh District PTA, and also served on the state board of the PTA. She was an elementary school teacher at Hilltop School, Elmhurst, and Reseburg schools, all in Clark County. She also worked for the Follow Through Program as a parent advisor in the Marshfield School District.

Survivors include her husband; a son, James, River Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Cal (Susan) Wery, Green Bay, Her mother, Mrs. Edna Klug; two sisters, Mrs. George (Shirley) Cleveland, Owen, and Mrs. Chester (Bernice) Sobon, Mundelein, Illinois; two brothers, Wilber Klug, Elgin, Illinois, and Russell Klug, Spencer; and three grandchildren.
