Fritz, Belle (29 Apr 1886 – 28 May 1976)
At 11 o’clock Tuesday forenoon, June 1, 1976, final rites for Mrs. Walter Fritz,
90, were held at the United Church of Christ, Owen. Rev. Donald Stats, parish
pastor, officiated, with burial following at Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
Mrs. Fritz, a resident of the Town of Hoard the past 65 years, passed away at
the Colonial House of Colby at noon Friday, May 28, 1976, after a long illness.
She has been a member of Eastern Star Lodge for years, and Monday night the Owen
Chapter held a service at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Owen.
The former Belle Roney was born April 29, 1886 in Belvidere, Illinois. She was
married to Walter Fritz on June 24, 1909 at Swaledale, Iowa. After their
marriage they moved in 1911 to a farm in the town of Hoard.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, the Owen Eastern Star,
Royal Neighbors of America and the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Gold
Star Mother.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Elton (Jack), Owen, Loraine (Boots) ,
Owen, and Allen, Milwaukee; a daughter, Mrs. Jens (Polly0 Smith, Owen; a sister,
Mary Eddy, Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, Brant Roney, Swaledale, Iowa; 19
grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, and a sister.
