Wiater, Richard M. (21 Jan 1936 – 25 Apr 2021)
Richard Michael Wiater, 85, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April
25, 2021. He was born January 21, 1936 in Green Bay, WI to the late Adam and
Evelyn Wiater. Richard moved with his family to a dairy farm in central
Wisconsin in 1943 where he learned an incredible work ethic, then graduated from
Thorp High School and Xavier University. His brilliant career in corporate
finance led him to Procter and Gamble, Magnavox, and General Electric, where he
worked in Turkey for several years and retired after 25 years of service. Later,
he led a spectacular turnaround at the Stewart and Stevenson Corporation in
Texas, which led to his induction into Who's Who in America in 2000 and Who's
Who in the World in 2001. Richard believed, "You can do what you choose with
your life; just give it 100% of your effort." Richard was a member of Christ
Church Glendale. He was a master woodworker and adored his two Havanese dogs,
Surprise and Gigi. He and his beloved wife, Ellie have always been known for
their generosity.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Stanley; his sister,
Lorraine; his second wife, Lorraine (Peterman); and his grandchildren Samuel
Joel Wiater and Rebecca Ruth Wiater, Survived by his devoted wife of 34 years,
Eleanor (Griffin); his brother, Adam Jr. (Kathleen); his children, Michael
Wiater (Deborah), Diane Wiater, Jeff Wiater (Trina), and Jeaneen Rausch (James)
and step-children, Natasha Harris, and Bretton Lammi (Kristie). Also he is
survived by grandchildren Nathanael Rausch (Amanda), Joshua Wiater, Natalie
Kreutz (Kevin), Natasha Dai ley (George), Naomi Wiater, Rachel Hall (Andrew);
step-grandchildren Avery, Griffin, and Tanner Harris; great grandchildren
Vincent, Ariana, and Juliana Rausch, and Havah and Naphtali Hall; and many
nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Christ Church Glendale, 965 Forest Ave.,
Glendale, Ohio on Saturday May 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. with internment immediately
