Schultz, Helmuth A. (8 August 1896 – 4 July 1977)

A native of the Town of Grant, Helmuth A. Schultz, 80, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, died Monday evening July 4, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home.

Helmuth Schultz, son of Wilhelm C. and Augusta Schutz Schultz, was born August 8, 1896, in the Town of Grant and received his education at the Carlisle School. He worked in Chicago for a short time, then returned to the Neillsville area and did carpentry work. His marriage to the former Ruth Lautenbach took place June 24, 1924, in the Town of Grant.

The Schultzes farmed in the Town of Grant and in the Town of Pine Valley for many years until he retired in 1966 because of failing health. Mr. Schultz was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, Two daughters, Mrs. C. George (Marvelin) Van Tatenhove of Minnetonka, Mn., and Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Ziegler of Neillsville; two sisters, Mrs. William (Olga) Kaitschuck of Neillsville and Mrs. Erna Witte of Tarpon Springs, Fl.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Harry Wedekind, Raymond Wedekind, Irvin Wedekind, Allen Crockett, Charles Meier and Maynard Anason.

“The 23rd Psalm” and “Asleep in Jesus” were sung by Mrs. Daniel Krehmeyer. Mrs. Sharron Nemitz was the accompanist.

Among those attending the services were the following from out of town, Clarence Kaitschuck, Des Plaines, Il; Mrs. Eleanor Anderson, Mt. Prospect, Il.; Mrs. Erna Witte Tarpon Springs, Fl.; Mr./Mrs. Robert Stoughton, Mondovi; Mr./Mrs. Leroy Lautenbach, Nekoosa; Richard McQueen, Madison; the George Van Tatenhove family, Minnetonka, Mn.
