Zalewski, Edward J. (21 Feb 1909 – 18 Jun 1976)
Edward J. Zalewski, 67, Route 2, Withee, died at 3:55 p.m. Friday at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral services were scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran
Church, Withee, with the Rev. David Wenger of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church,
Greenwood, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
Pallbearers were Frank Potocnik, Orville Thompson, Herb Thompson, Sonny
Mathieson, Fred Rohland and Art Hanson.
He was born February 21, 1909 at Chicago, Illinois, and married Lillian Lentz
December 17, 1938 in Chicago. They lived there until 1943, when they moved to
Peru, Illinois, and stayed there until 1946, when they began farming in the Town
of Hixon, doing so until 1961.
He was employed by the Teledyne Post Co. since 1955, retiring in 1971 as a
millwright. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Surviving are his
widow; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Alice) Nelson, Reedsburg, and Mrs. Wayne
(Jean) Thompson, Dorchester; a sister, Mrs. Al (Tillie) Ross, Arlington Heights,
Ill., and ix grandchildren.
A brother preceded him in death.
