Zschernitz, Rose Marie (10 August 1932 – 29 April 2021)

Rose M. Zschernitz, age 88, of Marshfield passed away peacefully at home on Thursday April 29, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Rose Marie Meissner was born on August 10, 1932 in Greenwood, the daughter of Ervin and Margaret (Kaas) Meissner. She attended the Janesville Settlement School, which was located on Highway OO, near the Black River. Rose was united in marriage to Melvin W. Zschernitz in Fairchild and lived in Neillsville for a short time and then moved to Marshfield. Rose spent many years as a homemaker raising her children. After the children were in school, she worked part-time as a waitress at various restaurants including Casa Loma, The Clinique, The Tiki Club, Bavarian Inn and David's Restaurant all of which were in Marshfield.

Rose was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield.

Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, crocheting, flower arrangements, collecting birds and reading. Rose often sewed for others, whether it was hemming a pair of pants to replacing zippers in coats, she received many calls to "fix" an item of clothing. She also made beautiful quilts and often gave them as gifts, which were very much appreciated. Rose loved to be outdoors in her flower beds, and many would stop to admire the variety of flowers she planted. She had a great sense of humor and a laugh that was so unique. She was loved so very much and will be greatly missed.

Rose is survived by her children: Michael (Dorothy) Zschernitz, Jeffrey Zschernitz, Linda (Lee) Kumm, Cheryl (Don) Vick, Sandra (Keith) Hill, Douglas (Mary Jo) Zschernitz, Tammy (Tom) Handrick and Timothy (Carol) Zschernitz; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Rose was proceeded in death by her husband Melvin Zschernitz, a son Randall Zschernitz, her parents Ervin and Margaret Meissner and siblings, Arnold Meissner, Hilbert Meissner, Millie Kaczor, Lucy Wilsmann, Lorraine Sternitzky and Gerry Meissner.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 1208 West 14th. Street, Marshfield, on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Andrew Belt officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning.
