Rafko, Debra Ann (27 August 1977)

Miss Debra Ann Rafko became the bride of David Gene Strey in a 2 p.m. ceremony performed Saturday, August 27, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford, by the Rev. Emil Hodnik. Afterward, the couple greeted guests at a reception at the Dorchester Memorial Hall. The bride, was presented in marriage by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rafko of Abbotsford. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Strey, Rt. 1 Granton are the groom’s parents.

A cascade arrangement of yellow roses, white carnations, baby’s breath and ivy complimented the bride’s A-line gown of poly-organza accented with venise lace trim and styled with a scalloped V-neckline, shepherdess sleeves, and attached chapel length train. A Camelot headpiece held her fingertip veil and blusher timed with Venise lace.

Bridal attendants were Pamila Rafko of Abbotsford as maid of honor and Mrs. John Rafco of Abbottsford and Mrs. Kenneth Jakobi of Granton as bridesmaids. Their cape-sleeved, cross-dye lace gowns featured portrait neckline detailing with satin ribbon empire waistline trim and A-line skirts with wide, ruffled hemline flouncing. They carried bouquets of blue-tipped daisies, white carnations and baby’s breath.

Serving as bestman was Allen Strey, Chili. Groomsmen were John Rafko, Abbotsford, and Kenneth Jakobi, Granton. Guests were seated by Melvin Severt, Marshfield, and Dennis Dommer, Colby. Jeffrey Severt was the ringbearer and Stacey Rafko, the flower girl.

A 1972 graduate of Phillips High School and a 1975 graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, the new Mrs. Strey is employed as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Her husband graduated from Granton High School in 1965 and is employed by Wick Building Systems in Spencer. The newlyweds will make their home on Rt. 1 Granton. They planned a wedding trip to Alberta, Canada.
