On July 1, 1976 Vern and Phyllis Gullickson became the new owners of the Owen
Pharmacy and the Withee Drug, which they had purchased from Mr. Harvey Weddig
and Mr. Harold Krom. Last Friday the Gullicksons moved into a trailer home in
Withee and are now getting settled.
Mr. Gullickson attended North Dakota State University and received a degree in
pharmacy. Following his graduation he worked in Moorhead, Minnesota, in a drug
store, and then served in the Navy for four eyars. In 1950 he moved to
Milwaukee, where he owned his own store in West Allis. More recently he has
managed the Kohl Chain of Pharmacies.
The Gullickson moved to this area because they just liked this party of
Wisconsin. “It’s less congested,” Vern said.
They have three children. David is employed in West Allis, James is a student at
the University of Wisconsin, Madison, studying journalism, and has an English
major. Susan is a student at the University of Wisconsin, La Crose, and is
studying Physical Therapy.
