Makovec, Francis Phillip (Frank) (4 November 1967 – 8 May 2021)

Francis (Frank) Phillip Makovec, 53, of Unity, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at his home, after a courageous, five-year battle with cancer. At Frank's request, a formal funeral service will not be held but a Celebration of Life may be scheduled at a future date to allow his large number of loving friends and family to share their fond memories of him. The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is assisting the family.

Frank was born November 4, 1967 to Eugene and Orvilla (Boehlen) Makovec in Marshfield. He was united in marriage to Maria Nikolai in 1986; they later divorced. He was then married to his true soulmate, Angela (Angie) Casperson, on May 19, 1997 and they spent 24 happy years together. Frank enjoyed his years of working at Bear Creek Canvas before retiring due to his illness.

Frank is lovingly survived by his wife, Angie, and their five children, Ian (Sarah) Makovec, Elizabeth (Frana Burtness-Adams) Makovec, Ashley Casperson (Jordan Lucas), Garrett Casperson (Skylar Shepler) with their daughters Aubrey and Avery, and Mason Casperson (Michelle Lucas) with their son Fox. Frank is also survived by his mother, Orvilla (Charles) Reise of Colby, and five brothers, Gerard (Barbara) of Fontana, Thomas (Peggy) of Stratford, Stephen (Lewis Hann) of Centerville, OH, Ivan (JoAnn) of Spring Lake Park, MN, Eugene (Diane) of Foley, MO, and three sisters, Mary (Verlyn) Schalow of Marshfield, Therese (Thomas) Kaletka of Belle Plaine, MN, and Agnes Makovec of Memphis, TN.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Eugene F. Makovec, and by one brother, Robert.

Frank was a loving and devoted husband and father to all of their children, and a doting grandfather. He was very grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and enjoy his three adorable grandchildren. Frank had the sharpest wit and most wonderful sense of humor that kept all around him smiling on even the darkest days. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, campfires, and all time outdoors with family and friends. Frank will be sorely missed by everyone who had the good fortune of knowing him.

The family wishes to thank the Oncology department at Ascension St. Michael's Hospital, Marshfield Medical Center, and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care. They also extend special appreciation to Dr. Rezwan Islam, who always gave Frank hope.
