Smith, Leo (1 Jan 1866 – 17 Nov 1943)

Funeral services were held Saturday morning in St. Patrick’s Church, Oneida (New York) for Leo Smith, 76, father of Mrs. Wallace Spellman, wife of State Trooper W. R. Spellman. Mrs. Smith died Wednesday in Main Street Hospital, Oneida, after an illness of about a week. He was a wholesale beer distributor.

A native of Durhamville, Mr. Smith was born January 1, 1866, son of Leon and Emily Smith. He was employed as a glass blower by the Durhamville Glass Company for year. Mr. Smith was in the beverage business for 40 years. He was a member of the Elks and Moose, and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; two daughter, Mrs. C. A. Scheuermann, Greenwood, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Spellman, Pulaski; a brother, Fireman Gasper Smith, Oneida; a sister, Mrs. Antoinette Betsinger, Durhamville; and five grandchildren.
