Garbisch, John (FFA- 1977)

John Garbisch, a member of the Granton Future Farmers (FFA), will receive the American Farmer Degree today, Thursday, at the National FFA Convention in Kansas City. This is the highest degree presented by the national organization. He is one of 34 FFA members from the state selected from 22,000 members to receive this high award.

Garbisch is the son of Mrs. Helen Garbisch, Granton, and is currently farming in the Town of Grant. He is a 1975 graduate of Granton High School and was married ten days ago to the former Lois Kuhn of Neillsville.

He earned the American Farmer Degree on the basis of his supervised farming program. He is currently faming in partnership on the home farm where they milk 40 registered Guernsey cows. Since eighth grade, when is father passed away, he and his mother have farmed 140 acres and cared for the cattle. He has served as an FFA officer and has participated in leadership activities and FFA activities. FFA judging contests and exhibiting cattle at shows has been his major contribution.

Each American Farmer Degree recipient will be presented a gold key and certificate by the National FFA Organization. Garbisch plans to attend the convention with his wife, his mother, and his Vo-ag instructor and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Steiner.
