Howard, Hugh (12 March 1912 – 7 November 1977)
Funeral services were held last Thursday for Hugh Howard, 65, of Neillsville,
who died at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville November 7 shortly after suffering
a heart attack at the Urban garage, where he was employed. The service was held
from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary Clark of the United
Church of Christ in charge. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Howard, who had retired following several years of employment at Nelson Muffler
corporation’s plant here, formerly served as a mechanic in the W & H Pontiac
garage, and following his marriage had farmed for several years in the Town of
Weston.
He was born March 12, 1912, in Fayette County, Ia., the son of Harvey and Eunice
(Miller) Howard. He came with his family to Clark County as a young man. On
October 2, 1937, he was married to the former Louise Hagedorn of Neillsville, at
Elgin, Ia.
Surviving are his wife are two sons, DeWayne of Houston, Tex., and Gerald of
Waukesha, and two daughters, Mrs. John (Donna) Mazola of Milwaukee, and Mrs.
Allen (Lois) Neumann of Wauwatosa. Also, surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Fred (Leota)
Murphy of Loyal, Mrs. Melnard (Ellen) Hansen and Mrs. Jesse (Lola) Tomlinson,
both of Greenwood, and by three brothers Harvey, Jr., Monona, Ia., Theodore of
Unity, and Glen of Upland, Ca.

Funeral services were held November 10 for Hugh Howard, 65, who died of an
apparent heart attack while at the place of his employment. With the Rev. Gary
Clark officiating, services were held at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home with
burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
“The Lord’s Prayer” and “How Great Thou Art” were sung by Mae Peters,
accompanied by Beulah Zoutendam.
Pallbearers were John Shaw, Randy Hagedorn, Rick Hoffman, Robert Murphy, Larry
Hansen, and James Howard.
Attending were his children, Mr./Mrs. John Mazola, Milwaukee, Mr./Mrs. Al
Neumann, Wauwatosa; Mr./Mrs. DeWayne Howard and Mr./Mrs. Jerry Howard, Waukesha.
Other relatives and friends from out of town, were Glen Howard, Upland, Ca.;
Mr./Mrs. Hap Howard, Mr./Mr. Jim Howard, Ray Howard, Chuck Howard all of Monona,
Ia.; Mr./Mrs. Phil Thompson, Rockford, Il.; Mr./Mrs. Clarence Hagedorn, Fond du
Lac; Randy Hagedorn and John Shaw, both of Eau Claire; Mr./Mrs. Ron Tomlinson,
Genesse; Mr./Mrs. Fred Warzinski, Mr./Mrs. Ted Romazine, Milwaukee; Mr./Mrs.
Wayne Murphy, Eli, Mn.; Mr./Mrs. Ted Howard, Unity; and Mr./Mrs. Jerry Marden,
Spencer.
