Marg, Brad (All-State Team - 1977)
Brad Marg, Neillsville’s senior defensive lineman, has been named Honorable
Mention on United Press International’s All-State team.
The All-Cloverbelt Conference player was also named to the first team in the
defensive line for the Channel 7 All-Star Team by WSAU-TV of Wausau, and to the
second team defense for the All-Northwest Football Team sponsored by the Eau
Claire Leader Telegram.
The 6-1, 215-pound senior was nominated by Coach Harlen Sunsdahl based on three
year’s of work. “This year we had other linemen who did good, but I took three
years into account,” said Sunsdahl. “I think he earned what he got through all
the weight training, running, and yearly summer football camps he’s put in,” he
said.
Marg, captain of the 1977 Warrior squad which won the Eastern Cloverbelt, has
earned three varsity letters in football. A part-time starter for the 1975 State
Title team and a regular ever since, Sunsdahl tagged him “an extremely strong,
physical and rugged player.”
Marg is the fourth consecutive Warrior to receive All-State notices. Roger Huth
was an honorable mention in 1976, and Jeff Vine was named to the first team and
John Donahue to the second in 1975.
Said Sunsdahl, “The best compliment I can give him, is that a coach very much
admires loyalty from a boy towards his coach and program. Brad exemplifies this
best.”
Dave Dux, Neillsville’s 1,000-yard gaining running back, was Honorable Mention
on the offensive teams if both All-Northwest and the Channel 7 All-Stars.
