Bensen, Mabel R. (3 December 1977)

The United Church of Christ, Neillsville, was the setting for the December 3 wedding of Mabel R. Bensen, River Falls, daugher of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph J. Bensen, Rt. 3 Neillsville, and Michael J. Doherty, River Falls, son of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Doherty, Oconomowoc. The Rev. Gary Clark was the officiating minister for the 2:00 p.m. ceremony. The wedding reception took place at the Wildcat Inn, Neillsville.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a hooded, yoked dress of eyelet and plain muslin, designed and made by herself. She carried a single red rose.

Cindy A. Becker, Eau Claire, was the maid of honor and Gayle L. Olson, River Falls, was the bridesmaid. Both carried a single yellow rose.

The groom was attended by Patrick J. Doherty, River Falls, as bestman, and Joe Buonecore, River Falls, as groomsman. Gary and Shawn Doherty were the ushers.

Pianist Cheri Diers played the Processional. Morning Has Broken” was sung by the bride between the pledge and the exchange of rings. Tim Doherty sang “Aren’t They a Beautiful Pair.”

The bride graduated from Neillsville High School in 1975 and attended UW-River Falls. The groom graduated from Kettle Morraine High School, Wales, Wis., and is presently attending UW-River Falls where he is majoring in agricultural education. He is employed by Kroy Industries, River Falls. After a wedding trip to Southern Wisconsin, their home will be at 1011 S. State St., River Falls.
